On August 11, 2012 Elaine Rey of Austin, Texas was elected as the National President at the 79th LAMOPH Convention in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mrs. Rey is married to a combat wounded veteran, husband Federico (Fred) Rey, who served with honor during the Vietnam War as a combat engineer with the 9th Infantry, 15th Combat Engineers and the Mobile Riverine Force.

On August 11, 2012, Patrick Little of Delaware was elected as National Junior Vice Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, a national veteran service organization with more than 44,000 members.    

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Cortlandt veterans' advocate William "Willy" Nazario was awarded the Military Order of the Purple Heart's (MOPH) highest honor Aug. 7. At the national MOPH conference, in Scottsdale, Ariz., Nazario was awarded national "Patriot of the Year," an annual honor bestowed one veteran of 43,000 MOPH members nationwide.

Through a secret ballot process, Nazario was selected from among six regional "Patriot of the Year" award winners, as the national, and overall, "Patriot of the Year."
